Embed 3D models in Notion
Learn how to embed your Revit, Archicad, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, and other 3D models directly into Notion, making your project documentation clearer, more collaborative, and easier to share with clients.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A Speckle account with access to your workspace
- A 3D model already uploaded to your Speckle workspace
- A Notion account
Speckle unlocks your 3D models from proprietary formats by streaming data directly from the design tools your team uses via lightweight connectors. They extract geometry and metadata, securely publishing them to the cloud without file exports. Models are safely stored, versioned, and easily viewed, shared, or embedded in apps like Notion and Miro.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Get the Embed URL from Speckle
- Open your Speckle workspace and navigate to the model you want to embed
- Click the ellipsis button (⋯) in the top right-hand corner of the model viewer
- Select "Embed Model" from the dropdown menu
- You'll see two embedding options - choose "Embed URL"
- Click "Copy" to copy the embed URL to your clipboard
- Close the dialog box
2. Embed your 3D model in Notion
- Open your Notion document where you want to add the Speckle model
- Click where you want to insert the model
- Type
/embed
and press Enter - A dialog box will appear asking for the embed link
- Press Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V on Mac) to paste the Speckle embed URL you copied earlier
- Click "Embed Link"
- Your Speckle model will begin loading directly in your Notion document
Conclusion
With just a few clicks, you can bring your 3D models directly into your Notion workspace, creating a more integrated and collaborative design documentation experience. This integration helps bridge the gap between technical modeling work and project communication.
